WideWheel Pro Overview:
Are you a first-time rider looking for a bit of bite from your scooter? Enter the WideWheel Pro. This dual 500W motor howitzer goes from 0-15 mph in a heady 3.2 seconds, while offering top speeds of up to 26 mph – making it 60% faster off the line than your average commuter scooter.
But don’t be alarmed by its pluck; the WideWheel Pro is also a robust little thing, with its chunky foam-filled wheels, spring suspension, and sturdy frame creating a floating sensation as you ride. Want to feel like Aladdin? Your magic carpet awaits.
The Good:
- Chunky wide tires maintain constant traction at all times
- Responsive acceleration
- Good hill climber
- Floating sensation while riding
- Optional seat attachment
The Bad:
- Sharp turns are difficult
Why I Recommend the WideWheel Pro:
There are many more reasons why the WideWheel Pro is regarded as one of the best 1000W electric scooters. One is its price. At $1,169, the WideWheel Pro is the cheapest 1000W dual-motor model. Sure, other similarly priced scooters (like the EMOVE Cruiser) may trump its maximum mileage, but with a range of up to 30 miles, the WideWheel Pro offers riders more than enough battery life to become the talk of the town in one outing.
The WideWheel also makes light of even the steepest of hills (take a seat, San Francisco). It wields enough power to conquer inclines as steep as 15 degrees, allowing you to motor up to the top of the city without breaking a sweat in the process.
Adding to the WideWheel’s plethora of benefits, it affords the opportunity to fit a seat – and it can even be folded with the seat attached. Factor in its slender deck, and the WideWheel Pro gains the distinction of being one of the most compact 1000W electric scooters.
This is negated somewhat by its 54 lbs weight; yet, considering the WideWheel Pro is a dual-motor model complete with dual springs, a 48V 15Ah battery, and the capacity to carry up to 220 lbs in rider weight, we think it measures up pretty darn well as a portable option for riders with little storage room.
Speed, comfort, and portability are all well and good, of course – but what about style? Well, we said you would be the talk of the town, and we meant it. The WideWheel Pro just looks cool. The slenderness of its tapered deck allies with a charcoal-grey frame and red trimmings to produce an aesthetic that wouldn’t look amiss in a stylish sci-fi flick. Think of it as a Blade Runner’s scooter of choice.
Safety is also of paramount importance – especially if this is your first foray into electric scooters – and thankfully, the WideWheel Pro has your back. The dreaded stem wobble that blighted its predecessor, the WideWheel, is nowhere to be found. Mercane, the scooter’s manufacturer, has clearly heeded the feedback to produce a thicker stem, reinforced fork, and stronger neck. For riders, this means complete peace of mind. Front and rear lights add another reassuring layer to the safety credentials.
While the deck may feel a little tight compared to other models, its widened rear kickplate and sandpaper surface mean there’s plenty of room for your feet to feel secure. Plus, the wide and foldable handlebars are simple yet effective. Their functionality is bolstered by handgrips that maximize control of the steering column. The optional key-lock function is another tick in the pros box.
Admittedly, the display is on the cheaper end of the spectrum, but, nonetheless, it ticks all the boxes for this price point. It shows your speed, total mileage, and voltage while enabling intuitive gear selection.
So, what about charge time and power? Again, Mercane has taken the feelings towards the WideWheel Pro’s predecessor on board by upgrading the battery size to double that of a standard budget scooter. This time around, there’s real power in your hands. The charge time is a not-too-shabby 6-7 hours, with a maximum of 10 hours encouraged to avoid damage to the battery. The charging port can be found on the right-hand side of the front wheel.
With impressive acceleration, nippy speed, and a durable build, the WideWheel Pro is a choice cut when it comes to 1000W electric scooters.

- Nominal Power: 1000W
- Peak Power: 1600W
EMOVE Cruiser Overview:
You simply will not find a better 1000W electric scooter under $1,500 than the EMOVE Cruiser.
Boasting a mic-dropping range of 62 miles, this single motor distance-shredder is a great option for both first-time riders and seasoned aficionados. Its extensive bounty of features makes a mockery of its $1,399 price tag, while its build quality produces a riding experience that’s enough to summon the broadest of toothy grins.
The Good:
- Unparalleled range in its class
- Supremely affordable
- Fantastic load-bearing capabilities
- Comes in five stunning colors
- Telescopic stem allows you to customize the height of the handlebars
- Powerful hydraulic disc brakes
- Buttery-smooth suspension
- Foldable handlebars
- IPX6 water resistance rating
- Optional Seat Attachment
The Bad:
- Handgrips have some wiggle
Why I Recommend the EMOVE Cruiser:
But first, the trifling drawbacks. If it’s adrenaline you seek, then the EMOVE Cruiser may not be your first choice. Its single motor will not deliver the same gum-slapping acceleration as dual-motor models – though it’s certainly no slouch, clocking top speeds of 30 mph and shuttling from 0-15 in just 3.5 seconds. These figures are all the more impressive when you consider that the EMOVE Cruiser weighs a hearty 52 lbs – this is no shrinking violet, which perhaps reduces its appeal as a super portable option.
It does, however, have a telescopic stem and foldable handlebars which both aid the Cruiser when it comes to minimizing its folded profile.
Now that’s out of the way, allow me to go full fanboy mode. Because, when it comes to the quality of your riding experience, this gem of a scooter is peerless within its category – bettering many pricier models, too. Semi-hydraulic brakes, spring suspension, and car-grade tires coalesce to the point where you almost believe you are gliding on clouds. This is Rolls Royce, baby.
Potholes? The EMOVE Cruiser laughs in their face. Uneven paving? Front coils dovetail with rear air shocks to make it irrelevant. The EMOVE Cruiser is purpose-built to maximize rider comfort in urban environments.
Then there’s its surprising power. With a peak output of 1600W from the single 1000W motor, the EMOVE Cruiser is a fairly good hill climber, capable of conquering the majority of imposing urban inclines and maintaining its pace over long distances. Sure, dual-motor models are naturally more adept in this area, but for its price, the EMOVE Cruiser performs well.
This force is fuelled by one very impressive battery – all 52V 30Ah of it. Supporting this is a Battery Management System that regulates the battery pack by keeping tabs on the flow of electricity coming in and out of it. All very clever sounding – and very effective. The battery itself requires between 9 and 12 hours of charging time, with the port situated on the right side of the wide, long, and sturdy deck.
This brings us to its load-bearing capacity. The EMOVE Cruiser can support up to 352 lbs of rider weight. This quality distinguishes the Cruiser as a juggernaut in its field.
Another area where the EMOVE Cruiser excels is in its added features. You name it: battery voltage meter; key ignition for anti-theft protection; turn signals; LED lights at the front and rear; a horn. The EMOVE Cruiser brings them all to the party. It’s rare to find a scooter – certainly within this price range – that provides such an array of mod-cons. And yes – of course, it has a great cruise mode, too.
One feature not mentioned so far is the IPX6 water-resistance rating. In other words, this scooter can withstand high-pressure jets for three minutes; vis-a-vis, if it’s an all-weather scooter you’re after (here’s looking at you, residents of Portland and Seattle), then the EMOVE Cruiser is a scooter that you can rely on.
In fact, the EMOVE Cruiser is a scooter you can rely on in every sense of the word. Whether it’s value for money, performance, or durability you are looking for, this smooth operator ticks every box.

Apollo City Pro Overview:
The new Apollo City Pro 2022 represents a giant leap forward in the commuter class. Self-healing tires, a triple suspension system, powerful regen brakes, a one-click folding mechanism, IP56 water resistance rating, turn-by-turn navigation, post-ride analytics, and an array of effective lights. This dual 500W motored city slicker represents all that is great about integrated electric scooters – and all for a relatively affordable $1,699.
Capable of accelerating from 0-15 mph in 2.9 seconds with the utmost serenity, the Apollo City Pro offers ample bite for riders who love nothing more than feeling that sudden rush of wind through their hair. Sure, its range of up to 38 miles is hardly earth-shattering. Yet, as a user-friendly urban sidekick – one that allows you to flit across the city with unbridled freedom – you won’t find a better 1000W electric scooter. This nimble scooter is a celebration of design and performance.
The Good:
- Proprietary design delivers great build quality
- Ergonomic controls
- Best turn signals we’ve tested
- Super simple one-click folding mechanism with zero stem wobble
- Tubeless, self-healing tires ensure convenience and durability
- Larger-than-normal tires increase handling and the ability to maneuver
- IP56 water-resistance rating
- Fast charging port
- High mounted headlight is bright enough for night rides
- Battery management system ensures long term health
- Integrated mobile app for customized performance
The Bad:
- Folding hook tends to fall out of the latch on the deck when folded (but not when being lifted)
Why I Recommend the Apollo City Pro:
Its dual-motor functionality makes it an apex hill climber, tackling them at a speed 27% faster than the original Apollo City. But where the Apollo City Pro, truly comes to life is in the quality of its build and array of forward-thinking integrations.
Take, for example, the new braking system that recharges the 48V 18Ah battery. The left handlebar has a paddle that enables you to use regenerative braking without applying the mechanical brakes – allowing more energy to go towards replenishing the battery. Cool, right? If that wasn’t enough, Apollo also introduced drum brakes front and rear, which require far less maintenance than their disc counterparts. Plus, when it comes to charging, the scooter arrives with a fast charger, meaning you can juice up in just 6 hours.
Another neat feature is the large self-healing tires. Like every other detail, this upgrade is designed to maximize the experience of riding around cities. A thick rubber guard and internal tire slime protect the tire from nails, glass, and any other treacherous fragments that urban areas can throw at you – making punctures a thing of the past. Alongside the large contact patch of the tires, where lots of rubber meets the road, the City serves up a fun riding experience that makes carving from side to side feel awesome.
It would be churlish of us not to doth our cap to the triple suspension system, too. Allied with some powerful shock absorbers, this function removes most of the unpredictability of riding through urban areas. No divert is too severe; no sudden curb is too heart-stopping.
Aside from the braking system, tires and shock absorption, one of the Apollo City Pro’s marquee features is its in-app software. Perfect for city life, this functionality permits turn-by-turn navigation and post-ride analysis, which allows the rider to customize performance. This may not be a priority for everyone, but it will appeal to those who get a kick out of digital technology and its boundless potential for integration.
Among a plethora of other great additions, the one-click folding mechanism takes convenience to new frontiers. The deck, too, is something to admire; sleek and yet wide enough to feel secure, it underscores the commitment to design that encapsulates the Apollo brand.
Factor in the IP56 water resistance rating, prominent headlight, and gargantuan turn signals, and you have a scooter custom-made for city living.
For those who value ease of use, integration, and attention to detail, the Apollo City Pro is an electric scooter to get excited about.

How Did I Test the Scooters?
When it comes to choosing a 1000W electric scooter it's important to identify whether it has a nominal power output of 1000W or a peak output of 1000W.
Often, electric scooter brands will use peak power figures to embellish their marketing material, meaning that while it may seem that the scooter is 1000W, it may only have a 600W motor. In cases like this, the motor can only generate a peak of 1000W for short periods before overheating.
With this in mind, particular focus was placed on motor size, nominal and peak power, top speed, torque, and acceleration.
