The Ugly Truth About VARLA Scooters: A Company That Can’t Be Trusted and Doesn’t Deserve Your Money

As someone who reviews electric scooters for a living, I’ve built my reputation on being honest, thorough, and fair – whether the review is glowing or critical. I’ve never accepted money to write a positive review. If I think a scooter is worth recommending, I feature it. If it’s not, I don’t.

To support the time, effort, and costs involved in my rigorous testing and review process, I rely on affiliate commissions. If you find one of my reviews helpful, click through to buy a scooter, and decide to keep it, I earn a small commission. If you return it, I earn nothing. Importantly: my success depends entirely on whether you’re satisfied with the scooter.

When VARLA reached out and sent me their scooters to review, I approached them like I do any other brand — rigorously and impartially.

To their credit, some of their models performed well, offering good value for money and solid performance. As a result, I featured them across my website alongside other scooters that stood out in their respective categories.

But what happened next exposed the real character of VARLA as a company: a complete and utter lack of integrity.

To this day, VARLA owes me thousands of dollars in unpaid affiliate commissions dating back to August 2023 — almost two years ago (as per the date of this statement). Over the last 7 months, I’ve sent countless polite emails, only to be ignored completely. Not once have they shown the slightest willingness to resolve the issue or even acknowledge it.

If this is how VARLA treats its own affiliates — the very people that help to promote and sell their products — I can only imagine how poorly they treat paying customers when something goes wrong.

VARLA’s scooters may be passable, but their business ethics are appalling. And no good product justifies giving your money to a company that operates this way.

My advice is simple: steer clear of VARLA. Spend your money with a brand that not only builds good scooters but also stands behind its promises and treats people with respect.
