Will the Razor EcoSmart Metro Be a Good Fit For You?

If all of your answers to those questions were yes, then the EcoSmart Metro will be a good fit for you.

From personal experience, I would recommend this scooter for adults and older teens only. It’s a bit too fast for children.

With that mind, whether you want to simply ride leisurely or use your electric scooter to commute to work, you can’t go wrong with this model.

Design

Does the Razor EcoSmart Metro Look Good?

The Razor EcoSmart Metro is slightly different from what you would expect a traditional scooter to look like, and I think you can tell why.

It comes with a seat!

Obviously, it is down to personal opinion but, I like the EcoSmart Metro. The large wheels and crisp white frame really play up the looks of the scooter.

Also, you have the option to remove the luggage carrier and basket from the scooter meaning you can slightly modify the look of it to give a slightly more sleek look.

Speed

How Fast Can the Razor EcoSmart Metro Go?

You’ll be glad to know that the EcoSmart is, in fact, one of the fastest electric scooters on the market. It can reach a top speed of 18 mph.

From experience, travelling at 18 mph on an electric scooter is very fast. You’ll definitely get a thrill out of it.

Let me set the scene, you’ve woken up to sunshine peeping through your window, you open the blinds, get dressed, head downstairs to open your front door and make your way out to a cafe for a coffee and brunch, and you decide to glide along the city streets on your electric scooter soaking in the fresh air and sun.

Sounds good, right? Damn right it does!

The only other scooters to match the EcoSmart for speed, are the Swagtron City Commuter and the Swagcycle Pro.

Mileage and Battery Performance

How Long Can You Ride the Razor EcoSmart Metro For?

Because of the powerful 36V rechargeable battery, you’ll be able to glide along for about 10 miles.

As you’ve probably already guessed, this means you could ride the scooter day after day, especially if you are just using it for leisurely use and short journeys. Alternatively, you could even use the scooter to commute to work considering its impressive mileage.

Weight and Weight Load

How Much Does It Weigh and How Much Can It Support?

As you would expect from the big frame, wheels and bamboo deck, the EcoSmart Metro is the heaviest scooter that I have reviewed, weighing in at 67 lbs.

Good luck trying to carry this bad boy!

Because the EcoSmart has been built to be robust and long-lasting, the sturdy frame can easily carry riders up to 220 lbs.

Foldability and Portability

Is It Easy to Fold and Carry?

If you just read the above section where I covered the weight of the scooter, you probably have a good idea about what I am going to say about its portability and ability to be carried.

Yup, you guessed it. It is super easy to carry! All you need to do is take the wheels off, put them in your backpack, pick up the frame and you’re good to go.

Did you believe that? Hopefully not.

So, is it easy to carry? The real answer is no.

Can it be folded? No again.

But wait, don’t let this put you off. Simply ask yourself whether or not you think you are going to need to fold and carry your electric scooter. What Features Does it Have and is it Durable?

The Razor EcoSmart Metro is one of the most advanced electric scooters from Razor.

Alongside the top speed of 18 mph, range of 10 miles and big padded seat, I’ve listed some of the standout features below that make riding the EcoSmart Metro a thrill.

Because the frame is built from steel and the deck from bamboo, the scooter is, in my opinion, one of the most durable electric scooters you can buy.

Safety

How Safe Is It?

I didn’t mention this in the features section but the scooter comes equipped with a hand-operated rear brake which will not only bring you to a safe stop but will also cut the motor to improve your ability to stop quickly.

My recommendation would be to practice riding the scooter in an open area free from obstacles until you become comfortable riding it and using the brake function.

Assembly

Does the Razor EcoSmart Metro Require Assembly?

Yes.

It’s very straight forward.

The EcoSmart Metro will arrive 95% pre-assembled and comes with all the necessary tools that you’ll need to finish the job (a screwdriver, allen wrench, open wrench, and spoke tightener).

To be brief, you’ll need to:

1. Attach the front tire
2. Attach the handlebar
3. Attach the seat and luggage rack (and basket, if you want)

Altogether, it’ll take you about 30 mins to get it up and running.

Pricing and Value For Money

How Much Does the Razor EcoSmart Metro Cost and Is It Worth it?

The retail price of the scooter is $469.99. But, because Razor scooters are sold by online retailers which Razor has partnered with, you can often find it on sale for about $411.99.

I know you are probably thinking ‘Woah, that’s quite expensive’ but, really when you think about how long it will last (many years), it is, in my opinion, well worth the investment. After all, you don’t want to opt for a cheaper scooter that will stop working in a few months and have to buy a replacement. I certainly wouldn't!

Also, it is an extremely popular scooter that often scores highly in independent reviews, and if you are concerned about the environment, you’ve also got to remember that it is the most environmentally friendly scooter – making it well worth the cost.

If you’d prefer to opt for an alternative that delivers similar performance to the EcoSmart but is cheaper, then I would recommend the Swagtron City Commuter or SwagCycle Pro (I’ve provided a top level overview of these models in the ‘Alternatives’ section further down the page).
