14 Things You Need to Know Before You Buy the Razor E300

If you’re looking for an electric scooter that is suitable for riders of all sizes, then you are in the right place.

As you may know, if you have read some of my reviews before, I aim to provide comprehensive reviews that will answer all of your questions. I do this because I was once in your position and was unsure of which electric scooter was best for me.

So, I have created this review of the Razor E300 to help you make a decision as to whether or not this scooter is best for you.

Lets begin!

Who is it Best For

Will the Razor E300 Be a Good Fit For You?

The Razor E300 has been designed with teenager and adults in mind. Typically, I would say that this is more of an option for teenagers given it’s design, but after all, that is down to personal preference.

If you want a scooter that you leisurely ride around the neighborhood, to the store or through the park then the Razor E300 is a good option for you.

If you are looking for an electric scooter that you’ll be able to use to commute, the E300 is not the one for you. Instead, check out my list of the best electric scooters for commuting.

Design

Does the Razor E300 Look Good?

Like I said in the last section, it is down to personal preference. The Razor E300 is available in bright colors, such as blue, and this is visually appealing, especially for younger teenagers.

But, for those of you who are in your late teen years or adult years, you may be looking for something a bit sleeker. In that case, the GoTrax GXL 2 or GoTrax G2 may be a better choice.

One other thing, the Razor E300 is what I like to call a ‘chunky’ electric scooter, due to its super sized deck and frame, and extra wide tires.

Speed

How Fast Can the Razor E300 Go?

The Razor E300 can reach a maximum speed of 15 mph.

In my books, I would consider the Razor E300 as a fast electric scooter. Sure, it isn’t the fastest but you’ll certainly enjoy whizzing along with the wind blowing in your hair.

If you would prefer something faster, here are 3 options which I highly recommend; the Swagtron City Commuter (18 mph), the Razor EcoSmart Metro (18 mph) and the GoTrax Glider (16 mph).

Impressively, the motor that propels the Razor E300 at 15 mph is extremely quiet, so you won’t need to worry about anyone complaining about noise.

Mileage and Battery Performance

How Long Can You Ride the Razor E300 For?

You’ll be able to ride the Razor E300 for around 9-10 miles, this equates to about 45 minutes.

9-10 miles is within the mid range of electric scooter mileage (the range spans from around 5 o 15 miles).

Considering the run time of the E300, you’ll be able to use the scooter for almost any leisurely activity you want, providing you’re not planning on doing a marathon.

Weight and Weight Limit

How Much Does It Weigh and How Much Can It Support?

Despite its large frame and deck, the E300 comes in at a mid-range weight of 42 lbs.

Now, it’s not the easiest electric scooter to haul about but going back to what I have said previously – it is ideal for leisurely activities, especially those that don’t require you lift or carry it.

Having been designed with a sturdy frame, the E300 can support riders up to 220 lbs.

Most electric scooters will support 220 lbs, the highest that I have seen is 320 lbs and that was for the Swagtron City Commuter.

Foldability and Portability

Is It Easy to Fold and Carry?

Unfortunately, you can’t fold the Razor E300. But, you can dismantle the handlebars to make storing it easier. Although, this is a pain when you have to constantly dismantle and re-attach them (even if it does only take a few minutes).

Also, because of its weight (42 lbs) it can be quite hard to carry, unless you’ve been curling some weights at the gym, but even then it can be hard to carry for extended periods of time.

However, you should ask yourself whether you actually need to fold and carry the scooter.

If your answer is no, then press on with the review as the E300 is likely a good scooter for you.

If your answer is yes, then you should see my guide on the best electric scooters for commuting where I list the lightest and most portable options.

Features and Durability

What Features Does it Have and is it Durable?

Pretty much all Razor electric scooters come with the same features. The only things that really change are speed, mileage and the weight they can support.

To give you an overview of what you can expect from the E300, I have listed the features below:

  • Twist grip throttle acceleration control
  • Extra wide 10 inch tires that provide a smooth ride
  • Hand operated rear brake
  • Kickstand so you can leave your scooter standing
  • Extremely quiet motor

In terms of durability, the Razor E300 has been built to last. It’s big frame can withstand the wear and tear of everyday use meaning you’ll have a scooter that will last you many years.

Safety

How Safe Is It?

As I mentioned above, the Razor E300 features a hand operated brake which is on the left hand side of the handlebars to provide easy access to pull whenever you need to slow down or stop.

Also, as an extra safety precaution Razor have ensured that when the brake is activated, the power to the motor is cut which, as you can imagine, helps to bring the scooter to a safe stop.

Assembly

Does the Razor E300 Require Assembly?

The simply answer is yes.

Does it take long? No.

Okay, how long? 10 mins max.

Don’t let the assembly put you off though. It is super simple to do.

All you have to do is slide the handlebar post into the hollow post that sits above the front wheel, and then tighten the clamp to secure the handlebars in place. You can tighten the clamp with an allen wrench (which is supplied with the scooter).

Pricing and Value For Money

How Much Does the Razor E300 Cost and Is It Worth it?

This sounds stupid, but it depends on the color!

Personally, I like the grey one – you can pick it up from about $279.99.

Is it worth the money?

Considering you can use the scooter again and again and again, I think you get real value for your money. Also, it will last for many years.

Once you’ve paid the initial upfront investment, the cost to continue running the scooter is extremely cheap.

Also, you’re getting an electric scooter from a brand that has sold over 13 million electric scooters. That figure alone should give you confidence that the E300 is a good investment – at least 13 million other people, like you, thought so.
